Who am I as a reader of poetry?
Who am I as a writer of poetry?
In my experience with poetry I have learned a lot. I’ve had a good experience with poetry. I would consider poetry my second favorite thing about literature.I find poetry a beautiful thing that anyone can try if they go for it and try their best at it. I do like poetry but at the same time I sometimes don’t. I don’t like poetry sometimes because I find poetry boring when I can’t really find what’s so interesting about it. Unless I can connect to what the poem is saying I really don’t feel very poetry interesting. At times I’m really not so interested in poetry, but then I really like how some of the poems can be relatable.
In 8th grade we read a poem called To This Day by Shane Koyczan. The poem really touched me because the words that the poet wrote were powerful. You could almost feel what the poet seemed to want the reader to feel. This poem really had a big impact on me so I would consider this my somewhat favorite poem. But I really don’t have a really good favorite poem that I like a lot so far. I hope that I will find a poem that will stick with me for a long time. I haven’t really disliked any of the poems that I have read in the past. I like to read poems about adventure, love, nature, and even poems that can be relatable or that a person can have some sort of connection with it. I find hate a really strong word so I won’t really say that I hate a poem but I don’t really dislike any types of poetry yet and hopefully I won’t dislike any.
I want to learn more about how to write a good poem, how a poem is structured, and how to add powerful words that can impact the reader. I want to get better at writing poetry. I find poetry something soothing. I like how poetry can be related in many ways and I want to learn how to write good poetry that can make the reader have a connection. I have learned many ways to write a poem or even the different kinds of poetry there is such as a haiku and a limerick. But I really didn’t like my experience with that but I maybe want to give it another try and hopefully learn to write haiku’s and even a limerick.
